this is just a few tips about tiles and materials

tiles for steps should be frost proof or else the top will split and crumble after 3 or 4 years, then you will have to re-tile.

shinney tiles are also no good as they are very slippy and more so when it rains and they are not frost proof.

the red quarry tiles are the best as they are frost proof and easy to clean but they are also the hardest to cut , a hand tile cutter will do but the wheel will go blunt after about 20 cuts.

when tiling a floor dont use white grout because you will never be able to keep it clean and it is a very big job to re-grout any tiling job.

always use the correct cement for the job , water proof grout for wall tiles and quick setting cemment for floor tiles.

there is a lot more work to be done before you can tile over wooden floors and more with floor boards.
