I had the walls of my house cavity wall insulated some time back.Probably around 2000.I drilled through the wall some time back to fit a extractor fan and noticed the filling was a chopped up kind of material.I am wondering if over the years if this material settles at the bottom, much like a box of cornflakes. If it did it would have a lot more insulation at the bottom than the top.

Is it worth while having it redone to top it up so as to speak or is the settling that negligible, that it would be hardly worth it.

i dont know if your from britain or not , could you fill this out in your profile please as the information relates to britain , if you are:-

what you have is an injected mineral fibre , which is paper , but i have only ever seen it in attic's before and its a mess to work around , it will break down and rot through time.

in this link below is information about you getting the walls filled again but you would need to get someone with a thermal camera to see how bad it is.if you know someone who works for the council they could maybe borrow one.

if you did think about getting the house redone i would go for the polystyrene beads they will never rot.

i hope this helped you
